Just got back from a 3 night stay. Very enjoyable weekend with Kate checking in with us to make sure we were having a good time. The facilities were very good and clean. We decided to do the clay pigeon shooting with Kate and had a great time. Will definitely be coming back.

Just back from a fabulous 3 nights staying in a caravan with electric hook up pitch. It was just perfect! Kate was a brilliant at instructing the clay pigeon shooting & organised they best meat for our BBQ. Our only complaint was we didn’t stay longer! We’ll definitely be back!

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cheviot and are now reluctant to leave! We have our own little bit of countryside, peaceful except for the birds, the sun is shining, its just perfect. We very much hope to come back and stay a little longer next time. Many thanks to Kate and James for being so welcoming and providing useful local information. All the best with your new venture.

My family and I spent a wonderful day with Kate enjoying the  outdoors and improving our shooting skills. She gave us first class instruction and kept it fun for the kids. We all had a great time and look forward to returning for some more lessons. I would recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get out and practice shooting in a friendly yet professional environment. Thanks again Kate

“Thank you for all your help whilst staying in your lovely shepherds hut. Having never stayed in one before I felt it was a bit of an adventure. Our dog Bear loved it too – sitting by the door and keeping watch! A warm and comfortable bed was nice too.”

“We very much enjoyed our ‘Pipo the clown and Mama Lou’ hut. Very cosy and relaxing after a day in the city!”

“We absolutely loved this whole set up. Fantastic hosts who were so accommodating and thoughtful. A nice walk to the Seven Stars pub for some lovely food. Beware of the cows though! Then a lovely day out in Oxford. Our springer spaniel, Buddy was in his element. We will be back and really like the idea of a winter break to get to really appreciate the log burner. Thank you!”

“Quirky little shepherds hut near Oxford – much better than a hotel stay. Hosts were really helpful with directions and recommendations on places to eat which were spot on. We even had fresh eggs for brekkie!”

“Kate was so accommodating and such a friendly lady. We loved this weekend and will definitely come back, particularly during the colder months to get a turn out of the lovely wood burner. Our dog was in his element in the field, the bed was really comfortable, and everything we needed was available. Great instruction on local places to eat and how to bus into Oxford which we did on our second day. Thank you!”

“What a beautiful shepherds hut – it beats a hotel room any day! Really quiet, scenic location and really detailed instructions on how to find it. We got stuck in traffic and arrived two hours later than expected but Kate really kindly bought us some beers for when we arrived. Very close to Oxford, just a shame we couldn’t have stayed longer. I’d recommend to anyone visiting the area.”

“We had a lovely weekend in Merino. A wonderful shepherd’s hut, really nicely fitted out. The log burner was perfect when the weather dropped to 4 degrees outside! We had lunch in a local pub which was tasty and a nice walk to across the fields. Would recommend to anyone looking for a cosy weekend retreat, though we would have happily stayed for longer.”

“Cosy, fun and clean and with a great feel to it. We stayed two nights on an autumnal October weekend – quite chilly and damp outside once the sun had gone down but the woodburner heated the place in 5 minutes flat! Kate and James were perfect hosts and we would recommend this to anyone looking for something slightly different.”

“The hut is extremely good fun, particularly if you’re looking for a cosy hideout, agianst the backdrop against the English rolling fields with hills, lush grass, and some nice ducks off to one corner. This is essentially a camping site with half of it for campers and the other half with two shepherds huts set up.
There are some proper toilets with showers a couple of minutes walk across the field and an eco toilet just metres away. The hut comes with a wood burning stove which works great, a cooker for meals, kettle and plates and cutlery. Kate was kind enough to leave us some eggs, tea and an extra charger for our phones and a nice candle. It was cold outside but we stayed warm throughout the night in the hut with our roaring little fire.
We were looking for a back to basics night off from London and we found it. Very charming spot.”

“So far on our journey throughout the UK this has been our favourite overnight experience! Unfortunately we arrived late in the evening after spending the day in nearby Oxford. Kate provided us with accurate directions and was available to answer any questions that we had. The hut was amazing! It was so intimate and isolated. We started a small fire to warm the hut before bed and had the best sleep of our trip thus far. Thanks again Kate – we will definitely stay again (and stay longer) when we next return to England.”
